Spectator Conduct Policy

Spectator Code of Conduct & Event Safety Policy

Purpose

Our mission is to provide a safe, respectful, and positive environment for athletes, coaches, officials, and spectators. Youth sports should develop character, not conflict.

By entering any event hosted by Teammate Basketball, all spectators agree to abide by the following policies.

Zero Tolerance Behaviors

The following actions may result in immediate removal from the facility without refund:

  1. Abuse or Harassment:
    • Profanity, obscene gestures, or offensive language.
    • Threatening, intimidating, or harassing behavior.
    • Verbal abuse toward players, coaches, officials, or staff.
  2. Referee Interaction:
    • Addressing, arguing with, or confronting referees.
    • Approaching officials before, during, or after games.
    • Questioning calls from the stands.

    Only coaches may communicate with officials.

  3. Physical Confrontation:
    • Fighting or attempting to fight.
    • Entering the court of play during a dispute.
    • Throwing objects or making physical threats.
  4. Alcohol, Drugs, or Weapons:
    • Possession or use of alcohol or illegal substances.
    • Possession of weapons of any kind.
    • Law enforcement will be contacted when appropriate.

Behavioral Expectations

Spectators are expected to:

  • Support all athletes positively.
  • Respect officials and event staff.
  • Remain in designated seating areas.
  • Follow all facility and tournament rules.
  • Leave the facility immediately when instructed by staff.

Coach & Team Responsibility

Coaches are responsible for the conduct of their players and spectators.

Failure to control spectator behavior may result in:

  • Technical fouls.
  • Game forfeits.
  • Team suspension from future events.

Referee Protection Policy

Officials are protected under a zero-engagement rule:

  • Any spectator interaction with a referee may result in immediate removal.
  • Games may be stopped if officials feel unsafe.
  • Abuse of referees may lead to organization-wide bans.

Staff Authority

Tournament staff, security, and facility personnel have full authority to:

  • Issue warnings.
  • Remove individuals.
  • Suspend or cancel games for safety.

All decisions are final.

Agreement of Entry

By purchasing a ticket or entering the facility, all spectators agree to:

  • Follow this policy.
  • Accept all enforcement actions.
  • Waive the right to refunds if removed.

  • Supporting referees and staff.
  • Prioritizing athlete safety over all else.
